We are known as the “umbrella people” by many of our clients. W. H. Greene & Associates places more lead umbrella premium than many insurance companies write for their own account. Most of this business is underwritten in our own office.

We capitalize on our expertise with excess casualty coverages (most of our brokers are former company underwriters). We negotiate our own reinsurance and then partner with insurance companies to give ourselves the authority to underwrite individually tailored, unsupported umbrella coverage. We presently work with four insurers to give broad coverage with the quickest possible turnaround. For some of these carriers, we are their largest single source of unsupported umbrella business.

Because we underwrite most of this business right in our office, we often provide a firm quotation the same business day we have a complete submission.

We originally designed our reinsurance to allow us to follow the form of primary insurance typical to public entities. As a result, our reinsurance allows us to follow form public officials liability, school board legal liability, police professional liability, ambulance attendants liability and so on. The benefit to our non-municipal insureds is that we can often cover their professional exposures, as well. This includes social service agencies, home health care agencies, pharmacies and printers.
